Street Races

Although I agree that racing should take place on the track, sometimes it does not.  I never want to race people on the streets, I have always been pushed into it by the person I am about to beat.  This is the log of all those races:

My first race ever, very few mods done, just replaced the O2 Sensor. I pulled up to the intersection of 32nd and Southern right next to a farting bumblebee Honda.  It was decked out to the rims with racing decals and a large wing.  As I pulled up to him, his bass was shaking my car so badly I couldn't even tell it was on.  I could not even make out Rush Limbaugh over the bass, so I kind of laughed under my breath at the situation.  As soon as I finished shaking my head and smiling I heard the guy and the person he had riding with him yelling "hey Mother F&*%er, you want to race?"  They kept yelling it until I gave them the okay let's race look, they were laughing up a storm that I was going to race them, but I figured that wing on the back had to weight about as much as my car, plus he has a passenger, I think I can show this arrogant ricer a little something about American made economy cars.  I beat him off the line, manually shifting, and watched him from the side view mirror shift in to 2nd at a very low speed while I was still in 1st (4 speed vs. 3 speed .... hello?) I easily pulled even farther in front of him after that.  We raced until I was about ten car lengths in front of him, then I backed off.  Once we got up to the next intersection about a half mile down from were we started he quickly turned the corner going south on Lindsey.

I had a good amount of mods done (still many more to do), ram air is the most beneficial, I was driving home on Southern when I came to the intersection at Gilbert.  As I was waiting for the light an Accord Coupe EX (with the top of the line Honda Accord VTEC 2.3 L 16V Engine) pulled up next to me.  He had a few stickers, looked like he had done some work on the car, but the most noticeable thing was the huge wing (I wouldn't even call it a spoiler) on the back of his car.  I was driving pretty fast up to the stop light, I think he noticed I zipped around someone one stop light back.  He was very obnoxious yelling at me, revving his engine, yelling "Oh you think you're fast."  He seemed kind of cocky like he needed a good beating from an American made car, so I assumed brake stance.  I brought the revs up to about 3,000 and timed the light perfectly.  I brought the Shadow up to WOT with a slow mash (slightly faster after 3/4 WOT).  I beat him off the line and I thought he was gaining on me at first, the nose of his accord was about half way up my car.  But after about 35 MPH I started taking off, by 75 MPH I was about three car lengthens in front of him and I backed off to head back down to the 55 MPH limit.  He whizzed by me and quickly flipped the first side street he found.

I  have done a lot of mods, just did a transmission mod, the Shadow is pretty fast, estimated at about 175 hp.  I was pulling out of Fry's Shopping mall with some groceries for Jane when I pulled up to the red light at Lindsey and Broadway behind an old Chevy V8 Truck.  A ricer was revving up his engine at the Chevy.  His Civic was decked out with Type R stickers and a good size coffee can was sticking out the back.  After a little more revving from the Civic the Chevy moved over to the turn lane which brought me toe to toe with the Civic.  He continued to rev, but now it was at me, so I revved a little back at him.  He kept revving and starring at me.  He looked all bark and no bite, I thought I could take him, so I put it in neutral revved it with one foot on the brakes and when it turned green I neutral dropped him so hard I had nearly two car lengths out of the intersection.  I gained another length and was easily leading him by the time I reached my turn into our place 1/4 mile down the road.  I saw him look pretty mad as he buzzed by me while I was turning.
